Owl depicts a curious little owl perched on a tree branch. Although he has fluffed up his multicoloured feathers and is resting comfortably, his eyes are fixed on something in the distance and he may fly away at any moment. But for how he is pausing right in front of us, captured with delicacy by Hong Bao.

Warm Winter strikes us with the mellowness of its festive atmosphere. Two deer and two rabbits welcome us to their Christmas party, which seems to be taking place simultaneously in the forest and indoors. With its gentle red tones and sparkling gold, this painting radiates a sense of joy and comfort, and the friendliness of its characters protects us from the harshness of the winter.

Snow Hare perfectly captures the delicate baby hare. Although it may be cold outside, Hong Bao’s hare is bathed in the warm tones of her mineral pigments which give his coat a glossy shine. This compact painting highlights the hare’s daintiness and adorable nature, bringing to you a piece of the natural world.

Sweet Secret is a mineral painting. It depicts a fairy floating around teacups, birds, fish and hares. This scenes is reminiscent of the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Alice in Wonderland, as the shy or possibly mischievous fairy looks startled among the delightful chaos. The world is turned upside-down, as the creatures of the sea, land and sky all mingle on one undefined plain.

Great Gift is the embodiment of Christmas. The festive atmosphere is all around us as we are bathed in the golden glow of the painting, while mineral rock gives the tree decorations an enchanting shimmer. This magical scene – filled with fish, birds, a deer and an owl – radiates the chaotic joy of the festivities and infects us with its jubilant spirit.
